Blaengar is a not for profit arts organisation set up by a small group of emerging artists outside of Aberystwyth with the aim to run events and exhibitions for Contemporary inter-disciplinary artists in Mid Wales.

Blaengar has emerged due to a need for an exhibition forum for emerging artists outside of the traditional gallery boundaries. We work in performance, installation, sculpture, new media and primarily our work will take place within the landscape of Mid Wales. We plan to develop opportunities for training and development for emerging artists, and provide a forum for diaologue in the area to try and draw artists working in similar time based media to the group.

We are currently developing two major new projects, VIA is an international project based around Venice where the artists first met as invigilators working for different national pavilions. Alice Briggs will be creating a site specific installation with Penparcau (Aberystwyth) Youth group between November 2008 and February 2009, culminating in a final event and performance evening. We also hope to bring back Interaction in 2010 for a larger festival, with satellite events and open studios around the town.

Look out for our Blaengar socials that take place quarterly in different locations around Wales, and showcase emerging artists and developmental art work.

Blaengar has a core of two artists and a performance group called 'WhiteRope' based in Cardiff and Aberystwyth.
